How TaskNotify works

TaskNotify lets an AI assistant reach you outside the conversation — in a private Telegram chat, or in your own inbox. You never call the tools yourself. You ask, and the assistant decides when it is worth interrupting you.

Every reply on this page is the real text the server sends, not an illustration.

Step 1

Connect Telegram

One tap, once. You never copy a token, a code or a chat ID — the link carries everything, and pressing Start is what proves the chat is yours.

  1. You

    Set up Telegram notifications in TaskNotify.

  2. Your assistant

    Open this link and press Start in Telegram to connect TaskNotify: https://t.me/tasknotifyapp_bot?start=… This link expires in about 10 minutes.

    The link is single-use and personal to your account.

  3. You open the link and press Start in Telegram.

  4. On your phone

    ✅ This chat is now connected to TaskNotify. Try it: go back to ChatGPT and say something like "send me a hello via TaskNotify".

    Sent by the TaskNotify bot itself, in the chat you just paired.

Step 2

Send a Telegram message

Ask for it in your own words. You do not have to mention a tool name, and you never have to set Telegram up again — the assistant sends straight away and only tells you to reconnect if the chat has actually gone.

Step 3

Send yourself an email

Nothing to connect: email goes to the address on your own TaskNotify account. There is no recipient field, so it cannot email anyone else — that is a property of the tool, not a setting.

Step 4

Put it on a recurring task

This is what TaskNotify is really for. A scheduled task that pings you on every run trains you to ignore it. Tell the assistant the condition, and it only reaches you when the condition is actually met.

    Every morning at 8, check the Apple newsroom. If there is a new product launch date, send it to me on Telegram via TaskNotify. If there is nothing new, do nothing.

    Done — I’ll check every morning at 8:00 and only message you when there’s a launch date.

    Wording varies: this part is your assistant’s own scheduling, not TaskNotify.

  3. Six quiet mornings. Nothing new, so nothing is sent — and no notification is a real answer.

What you can send

Formatting

Bold, italic, underline, strikethrough, links, inline code, quote blocks — and spoilers on Telegram. Emails also take headings and lists. Markdown, CSS, tables and inline images are stripped rather than rendered, and malformed markup falls back to plain text instead of blocking the delivery.

Files

One attachment per message, up to 12 MB, on the Premium plan. TaskNotify checks the actual bytes rather than the file name, so a renamed extension is still refused. If the assistant made a file, ask it to send the file itself — sandbox and download links expire and usually will not open on your phone.

Connecting another assistant

TaskNotify is a remote MCP server, so any client that speaks remote MCP can use it — not only the assistant you started with.

  • Transport: streamable HTTP over POST /mcp
  • Authentication: OAuth 2.0. You sign in with Google or email; TaskNotify never sees a password.
  • Tools: setupTelegram, sendTelegramMessage, sendEmail

Signing in is what creates your account, and it is what tells TaskNotify which inbox and which Telegram chat are yours. Add the connector, complete the sign-in prompt, and you are at Step 1 above.

When something goes wrong

The assistant asks me to reconnect Telegram, but it was already connected

Ask it to send the message anyway. TaskNotify answers “Telegram is already connected for this TaskNotify setup.” and the delivery goes ahead. Your assistant cannot see your earlier conversations, so it sometimes guesses that setup is missing.

The pairing link does not work

Links expire after about 10 minutes and are single-use. Ask for setup again to get a fresh one. If you opened the bot directly and it replied “This pairing link isn’t valid. Ask ChatGPT to set up Telegram again to get a fresh link.”, do that in your assistant rather than in Telegram.

Messages stopped arriving

If you blocked the bot or deleted the chat, the next setup call tells you: “Your previous Telegram connection looks broken — the bot may have been blocked, or the chat was deleted.” It hands you a fresh link, and pressing Start restores delivery.

I want notifications in a different Telegram chat

Ask to reconnect. TaskNotify replies “TaskNotify is already connected to another Telegram chat.” with a new link, and your current chat keeps working until you press Start in the new one. Nothing is lost in between.

The email never arrived

Check spam first, then confirm you are signed in with the address you expect: email always goes to the address on your account, and naming another one in your request does not change that.

I hit the daily limit

Free accounts get 2 delivered messages per day, shared across Telegram and email, resetting at 00:00 UTC. TaskNotify tells you once — on the channel you were using — and then stays quiet for the rest of the day rather than repeating itself. A message that fails to deliver does not count against the limit.

Nothing happens at all

Confirm your client points at the server URL below over HTTPS, supports remote MCP with streamable HTTP, and that you completed the sign-in prompt. If you added the connector before you had an account, remove and re-add it so the sign-in runs.

Privacy, briefly

Message bodies, subjects, recipient addresses and Telegram chat IDs are never written to our database. What we keep is your account, the Telegram pairing, your daily counters, and delivery metadata — which channel, whether it succeeded, and why it failed. TaskNotify is built and hosted in Europe.
